Mission

Capacity Builders, advances equity and economic justice by empowering minority- and women-owned small businesses and nonprofits to grow and thrive. Through our developmental services—such as financial literacy, business management, and digital skills training—we drive positive change in under-resourced communities.

The Problem

Underrepresented small businesses, including those owned by minorities and women, often operate on limited budgets and struggle to manage their finances effectively. This frequently leads to cash flow issues and overspending, which creates challenges in employee retention, attracting and keeping customers, and leveraging technology for business growth.

Businesses in under-resourced communities face systemic barriers to accessing advantages, benefits, and wealth-building opportunities. They also encounter difficulties with marketing, building brand awareness, customer acquisition and retention, and maintaining operational efficiency, especially when managing daily operations and adapting to evolving business environments.

Our Program

Capacity Builders helps non-profits and small businesses scale their operations effectively. Our curriculum covers strategic planning, financial management, marketing, digital transformation, and operational efficiency. Participants have access to workshops, coaching, and industry experts.

Current Impact

We presently serve approximately 100 small businesses and nonprofits annually through our financial literacy and educational programs. An added benefit is that we provide one-on-one coaching to 50 business owners each year.
