The Legal Clinic is dedicated to protecting the legal rights of marginalized communities in New Jersey. We provide accessible high-quality legal assistance and advocacy to ensure underserved individuals can overcome systemic barriers to justice.
The Department of Justice Equity Plan (2023) reveals a stark reality: many low-income individuals are left without legal representation in crucial matters like eviction, domestic violence, discrimination, employment rights, and immigration. This dire situation deepens inequality, obstructs access to justice, and undermines financial stability and overall well-being.
Many low-income, resource-deprived families lack access to legal knowledge and assistance that may improve their overall quality of life. Such services will help them make more informed decisions and/or receive meaningful opportunities for justice.
The Legal Clinic provides in-person and virtual training throughout the year to address equity, advocacy, and justice-related issues for under-resourced people. These culturally relevant training sessions help participants learn to make informed decisions while safeguarding their human and legal rights from discriminatory and unlawful practices.
We currently serve approximately 120 individuals and 40 families monthly through our Legal Clinic and educational programs. An added benefit is that we provide one-on-one legal services to 30 individuals and couples each month.
