Step It Up

(The Blended Family)

Provides support services to help blended families thrive.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

Students are taught conversational English and develop cultural skills to successfully live and work in the United States.

Meet with an assigned career coach to discuss activities such as identifying interests and skills, starting a job search, writing a resume or preparing for an interview. Your career coach will help you figure out who you are and what you want out of your education, your career and your life. Group training classes are also a part of this feature of The CARE Center.

Every day in America, 2,100 new blended families are formed — a testament to the evolving nature of family life. Once, the "traditional family" was defined as one mother, one father, one marriage, and biological children from that union. Today, however, only 1 in 6 Americans live in that traditional family structure. The vast majority — more than 83% of families — navigate the beautiful and complex dynamics of blended households, which include stepparents, stepsiblings, half-siblings, and co-parenting arrangements.

Step-It-Up exists to meet this moment. We understand that blended families face unique challenges as they weave together diverse histories, relationships, and traditions. Our mission is to come alongside these families — offering practical guidance and emotional support — to help them not just survive, but thrive as strong, loving, and resilient units. Through workshops, peer support, counseling, and community-building opportunities, Step-It-Up empowers blended families to foster healthy relationships, build trust, and create a shared sense of belonging and purpose.

The CARE Center offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for Adult English Language Learners. These classes are designed to teach students conversational English and to develop cultural skills to successfully live and work in the United States. These classes allow students to learn to speak, read and write the English language in a relaxed and supportive environment.
